The worst tornado season in 8 years, and I handled it fine.

We had a tornado outbreak on 7 April 2006, with 12 deaths in Tennessee. I manned the American Red Cross chapter in Murfreesboro, relaying storm reports from east Tennessee to the National Weather Service in Nashville. Probably saved a few lives in the process.

Let severe weather season begin.

I left work to head home, and by the time I was across the street from my apartments, the tornado sirens sounded. Talk about unnerving. But I guess living in the Southeast, you get used to it. :P

BitTorrent just got a bit lighter.

I just recently switched BitTorrent clients from Azureus to µTorrent. It's not only lighter, but the executable is 130KB.

Also, I attended the Association of Information Technology Professional's Nashville student conference over the weekend. I placed 3rd in PC Troubleshooting, 4th place in PC Troubleshooting (Written Exam), and earned Honorable Mention in Network Design.

Busy weekend. :)

Let it snow !

Well, we're finally gonna get some snow here in Middle Tennessee. There's a heavy snow warning out for most of the mid state, with 3 to 5 inches projected tonight.

I have an IT conference tomorrow in Nashville - hope this snow doesn't snarl the interstates between here and there.

Got all my computers set up.

Finally. Got Windows 2000 to work right. Seemed like a large project. At least it works now, and I can start putting together my roommate's computers into a network, sharing files and printers - the right way.

Out of town today.

Going with my dad today to visit my cousins in Chattanooga. Should be fun. I've always had a blast when I visit there. :)

Found a lot of crap I've been looking for.

I guess it's about time that I start opening more boxes. I was looking for some surge protectors and found not only them, but my speakers, my old keyboard (look up IBM Model M) and my wrist rests. Makes my workstation a little more fun.

Free food at the Murphy Center tonight!

Anyone here who's an MTSU student can get free food at the Mardi Gras night! Between the women's basketball and the men's basketball games, there will be free food, costume contests and more.

Work just a lot less boring.

Now that the techs finally installed audio onto my workstation, I can listen to music on the computer while I'm working. It might seem like a small thing, but when you're working on the computer for hours on end, having little distractions like music can help make it a little more tolerable.

Hello, how are you today?

Went to my first class meeting today. Instructor of my karate class is the head instructor of one of the larger martial arts studios in town. Should be rather fun.

But I also updated the template for my blog. What do you think?

Mmmmm... spaghetti.

My roommate is making spaghetti.

Mmmmm... spaghetti. One of my favorite pasta dishes. Always a great thing for dinner.

Maybe I spoke too soon.

Shortly after I made my last post, my roommate's mom dropped by. She always makes things a little exciting. Some excitement in an otherwise dull day.

Campus life can be boring sometimes.

Man, I'm bored. This shouldn't be happening, but with it being so cold outside, not much is happening on campus yet.

Also, with the floors of the Campus Recreation Center being resurfaced, there's not much to do on the weekends either.

I WANNA DO SOMETHING !!! :P

Week 1 is hereby over !

Hooray ! Week one of classes is over. I think I've stabilized - after having my classes deleted by the computer (so naughty... I could pinch them!), I got my fees paid and am confirmed for one class - beginning karate. My first class meeting will be on Monday. Here's hoping it goes as well as I hope. I expect it'll be a fun class, and that it will help me stay in shape.

Let the mayhem begin !

And starts yet another semester at Middle Tennessee State University. How was everyone's break? I know mine was crazy. After 3 weeks visiting family on the west coast, being stranded in Philadelphia for a night after my flight was cancelled, I'm exhausted.

But not everything is bad...

I started working at one of the computer labs on campus here at MTSU, and started on my class - beginning karate. Sounds like fun. :-)
